Glossary
The AI sales glossary.
Plain-language definitions for the terms behind an AI sales agent — discovery, qualification, deliverability, and the trust artifacts that keep outbound safe. One idea per entry, grounded in how Overwise actually works.
- AI sales agent
- Software that runs the full outbound loop on its own: finds leads, qualifies them, drafts each message, sends email or queues a task, and triages replies. It is the assembled end product, not a single tool for one step.
- AI SDR
- A role-derived synonym for an AI sales agent, borrowed from the human Sales Development Representative title. AI BDR is the near-identical Business Development Representative variant. Both describe the same category of software.
- Multi-source lead discovery
- Routing your ideal customer profile across many data sources instead of one database, so an LLM can surface the long-tail companies a single source misses. This is Overwise's core differentiator against send-engines and contact databases.
- ICP (ideal customer profile)
- The description of the companies and people you sell to. In Overwise you write it as one plain-English sentence, and the agent routes it across sources to find matching leads.
- Absence-signal probe
- A configurable check that confirms a prospect lacks the thing you sell — for example "no live chat", "no online booking", or "no analytics tag". You map probes to your product; defaults are empty so no cost is wasted on irrelevant checks.
- Lead qualification
- Scoring a lead from 0 to 100 against your ICP using configurable signals and absence-signal probes plus hiring and funding events. Qualification decides which leads are worth contacting.
- Cite-or-discard (message verification)
- A trust rule: every factual claim in a draft must trace to a real signal, or the draft is held back and flagged for you. It stops invented facts before they leave your domain.
- Brand-voice extraction
- Learning your writing tone from your sent folder (with your consent, over OAuth) so drafts sound like you rather than a template. Every first-touch message is drafted in that voice.
- Mailbox warmup
- A conservative send ramp over the first days of a new mailbox that protects deliverability. During warmup, first sends are routed through review regardless of campaign settings.
- Deliverability (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
- Email-authentication standards that keep messages out of spam. Overwise checks all three and blocks sending from a broken or unauthenticated domain.
- Suppression
- A single enforced list of addresses that must never be contacted, applied at one chokepoint across every campaign and mailbox. An unsubscribe hard-suppresses a contact everywhere at once.
- Cross-tenant cooldown
- Hiding a lead from other Overwise customers for a window (a 7-day default) after one customer contacts it, so two customers do not hit the same prospect at the same time.
- Hot-lead trigger
- A buying-intent signal — a hiring spike, a funding event, or a tech-stack change — that surfaces a lead as newly worth contacting.
- Lookalike discovery
- Finding new leads that resemble your existing converters using vector search over company signals. It scales what is already working without you rebuilding the ICP.
- Reverse discovery
- Pasting a list of your customer domains to get back similar new leads. It is the inverse of describing an ICP from scratch — you show examples and the agent finds more like them.
- Discovery-only mode
- An export-only campaign that finds and verifies leads without sending anything. It is the escape hatch for anyone who wants the discovery value before trusting the agent to send.
- AI Inbox
- The single queue of things the AI needs from you: approve outreach, respond to a reply, do a drafted manual-outreach task, or review a verification failure, an auto-pause, or a suggestion. Regardless of channel, it is one inbox.
- Manual-outreach task
- For a lead reachable only on a non-email channel, the AI drafts the message and queues a one-click task. You send it yourself and mark it done — Overwise does not auto-send on channels other than email.
- Sorting every reply into a class — positive, question, negative, or neutral — with a confidence score. Positive replies get a drafted response for one-click approval; only replies that need a human reach your inbox.
- Negative-reply theme clustering
- Grouping negative replies by theme so you can see why a campaign is not landing and adjust the ICP or copy. It turns rejections into a signal for testing the next variant.
- EU AI Act Art. 50 disclosure
- The transparency footer that discloses AI assistance in a message, required under the EU AI Act. Overwise injects it into every send automatically.
- Overage
- Optional opt-in billing for leads above your tier's monthly cap, at $0.20 per lead and hard-capped at twice your limit. It is off by default; without it, hitting the cap is a hard stop with a banner and no surprise bill.
