Gmail integration — send under your name, with your voice.
One OAuth click connects Gmail to Overwise — no SMTP credentials, no app passwords. Outbound goes through your actual mailbox so replies thread correctly. Brand-voice extraction reads your sent folder to learn your tone. Reply auto-detection feeds the AI Inbox. Revoke the token from Google any time.
Four things the integration does for you.
Sign in once with Google; no app passwords, no SMTP credentials stored. Overwise gets a scoped OAuth token you can revoke from your Google account at any time.
Outbound emails go through your actual Gmail mailbox (so they show as 'sent by you', appear in your Sent folder, and thread correctly with replies). No look-alike domains, no spoofed-from headers.
On connect, Overwise reads the last ~50 sent emails to learn your tone, sign-off, sentence length, and quirks. The draft for each lead matches that voice — short, specific, sounds like you.
Overwise polls your inbox for replies on the threads it sent. Replies are auto-classified (positive / question / negative / OOO) and surfaced in the AI Inbox. Outbound auto-stops the instant a lead replies.
How to connect, in 60 seconds.
- 01
Click 'Connect mailbox' in your project settings
From the Settings → Mailboxes panel, hit 'Connect Gmail'. You'll be sent to Google's consent screen.
- 02
Authorize the requested scopes
Google asks you to approve send, read, and modify scopes — these are required to send under your name, read replies, and apply auto-labels. No other scopes are requested.
- 03
Wait ~60 seconds for brand-voice extraction
On first connect, Overwise reads recent sent-folder messages and synthesizes a brand-voice fingerprint. You'll see a confirmation when it's done; you can edit or remove the extracted samples anytime.
- 04
First-send approval (default)
New mailboxes default to Review-each-send for the first 7 days — every outbound draft requires your one-click approval. After that, autopilot is available per campaign (still bounded by warmup caps for the first 14 days).
Overwise stores only the OAuth refresh token, encrypted at rest with AES-256. We never store your password or any plaintext message body beyond the in-flight draft. Revoking the token from your Google account dashboard immediately ends all access. Permissions list is visible at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Gmail-integration questions, answered short.
Will my Gmail get marked as spam?
Not if your DNS is healthy. Overwise blocks sending if SPF/DKIM/DMARC checks fail at connect. The 14-day warmup ramp (10 → 25 → 50 → 100/day) is non-overridable for new mailboxes. Bounce-rate auto-pause kicks in at 8% mailbox-wide. These guardrails are the deliverability moat — you can't disable them.
Can I use a Google Workspace account, or only personal Gmail?
Both. Google Workspace ([email protected]) is recommended for outbound at any scale — personal @gmail.com addresses are deprioritized by ESP filters for cold outreach. Workspace's higher daily-send limits also let the warmup ramp top out faster.
Does Overwise read all my emails?
No. Reading is scoped to: (1) the recent sent folder for brand-voice extraction on connect, (2) reply detection on threads Overwise sent. Other inbox messages are never read. You can revoke the OAuth token from your Google account dashboard at any time, which immediately stops all access.
What if a reply is forwarded to me from a colleague?
Replies are detected by RFC 822 In-Reply-To headers, so direct threads on the sent message are picked up. Manually-forwarded replies (someone forwards a reply to your inbox separately) are not detected automatically. Use the AI Inbox 'Mark as reply' action to manually attach those.
